Partnership and collaboration between organizations that have similar goals in mind and are determined to succeed can lead to tremendous positive changes.
African organizations are quickly realizing the importance of such agreements and are coming together to work on projects in which they both have mutual interests. An example of this is the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that was signed between the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) and WorldFish at the 6th FARA Africa Agriculture Science Week (AASW6) in Accra, Ghana.
This collaboration between NEPAD and WorldFish will is supposed to promote integrated fisheries, through national and regional fish trade as well as rural programs that provide job opportunities for women and youth involved in fishery. This collaboration will lead to the provision of effective management of natural and aquatic resources.
The signing of the MOA signifies the beginning of an official relationship between NEPAD and WorldFish, two organizations that will emphasize the importance of innovation and meaningful action that can bring about change to the lives of everyone involved.
With this new alliance it is safe to say that the future is bright for fish farmers in Africa.
